How Blackbullion works

Blackbullion is a free app and website for all USW students, designed to help you learn about managing your money while growing your financial wellbeing. Register with your student account details to access a range of tools, resources, and expert advice to help manage your finances.

Financial Wellbeing Score

When you log into Blackbullion, you’ll have the chance to unlock your financial wellbeing score. To do this, you’ll be asked to securely connect your bank account using Open Banking technology. This lets you gain valuable insights into your spending and helps you manage your money more effectively—all while keeping your data, funds, and safety fully protected. By answering a few quick questions, you’ll gain access to a tailored plan that will help you to improve managing your money.

Financial tools

Try the Spending Snapshot to see how you manage your money compared to other students, take the Your Money Mindset quiz, or use the Budget Calculator.

Each financial tool is designed to make managing money clearer and easier to understand, offering practical knowledge to help you take control of your finances.

Learning and funding opportunities

The platform’s Learning Hub offers a wealth of resources for students, covering everything from setting financial goals and understanding taxes to more unique topics. You’ll find courses on gaming on a budget, spotting legitimate side-hustles, and the affordability of commuting to campus.

Blackbullion can also help you find funding too. By using the Funding Hub, you can search for bursaries, scholarships and grants.

Discounts and prizes!

For each activity you complete on Blackbullion, you will get rewarded with collectable digital badges and “bullions”. Bullions can be spent on the app, giving you access to discounts, prizes and exclusive opportunities.

How to register

• Go to blackbullion.com and select the ‘Register’ button.
• You will be asked for personal details, information about your studies, and your financial goals.
• Verify the email address you used to register.
