Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
Carers Week is led by Carers UK with the support of a number of other charities.
Are you an unpaid carer?
The Carers Trust definition of a carer is “anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.” Please note that these duties would be in addition to the usual caring responsibilities that a parent would have for a dependent child.
If so, have you checked the support available to you both outside and within the University and applied for theUSW Carer Bursary (please note this is available to ‘home’ students only)?
