Government loans and grants

If you are a continuing UK or EU undergraduate student who accesses government student finance for your studies, you should re-apply for your funding for 2020/21 as soon as possible.

The various Student Finance agencies are still operating, albeit with limited services and resources, and they are encouraging students to get their funding for 2020/21 in order.

Some useful government FAQ’s about student finance can be found on GOV.UK - Guidance for current students

If you have lost a job due to the current crisis, you should check the terms regarding furlough and check with your employer whether this is a possibility for you.

‘Any employer with a UK payroll and a UK bank account will be able to claim, but you must have been on your employer’s PAYE payroll before or on 28 February 2020. You can be on any type of contract, including a zero-hour contract or a temporary contract. You can be furloughed under the scheme if you are a foreign national.’
